Emulated Classic Video Games Playable Right In Your Browser
Ever get that urge to play a classic game? Having flashbacks to a simpler time when you would beg your mom for a a few bucks so that you can run to the local arcade? Remember when you spent all your money and wonder why you tried playing these difficult games in the first place?
If you harken back to those wonderful(?) times of child/tween/teen-hood, then this post is for you.
These are a a couple of my favorite sites dedicated to emulating classic games playable right in your web browser. How convenient! Sure, there are more sites out there, but these two give you a bang for your token.
- 1980 Games - The Donkey Kong series, the original Mario Bros., Bomb Jack, the 194X series, Galaga (and Galaxian), Space Invaders, Pac-Man (plus Ms. and Jr.), Commando, and Frogger are just a taste for what's in store at this site. There's also arcade remakes and 800 Nintendo NES games here, too. (Caution: There's also Adult Games, NSFW or kids.)
- vNES - A Virtual Nintendo Entertainment System in your browser. While vNES touts a smaller list of classic NES titles (only 765), it's got a better setup in my opinion. No pop-ups either.
Both of these sites should keep you busy for a good long time. Make sure, though, that you have the latest Java installed.
