Go-OO - OpenOffice Done Right
I love OpenOffice. It's the best free office software you can't buy. Microsoft Office 2008 can run up to $200. Free vs. $200 is a one-sided contest.
However, some people (including me) have had a few problems with the interoperability that OpenOffice.org claims the software should have. OpenOffice is supposed to be able to use the same formats as MS Office, but this isn't always the case.
Some that were frustrated have apparently found a solution. Enter Go-OO, OpenOffice that's faster with better interoperability with MS Office.
Don't be scared of the "Development Version" on the splash screen. This thing is just as stable as its original cousin. It did load up a bit quicker in my tests.
If you happen to already be running OpenOffice 2.4, uninstall that before getting Go-OO. It's available for Windows and Linux.
