Windows Search 4.0 Brings XP's Search to Vista Standards

Face it. The search function in Windows XP sucks. Windows Vista's search functionality is one of it's strong points. How in the world can a normal XP-er get this kind of functionality without having to resort to buying a new computer with Vista installed? Well, except for using Google Desktop or Copernic Desktop Search 2, the answer would be Windows Desktop Search 4.0.

Windows Desktop Search 4.0 brings exceptional searching capabilities comparable to Vista to your XP computer. It helps you find and preview documents, e-mail messages, music files, photos, and other items on your PC.

My only caveat (does anyone say that word in real life?) is that it doesn't take it easy on resources. You better have a good amount of RAM (Windows Desktop Search was using over 7mb on my test machine, too much for something running in the background) and a large hard drive, especially if there's a lot of stuff you have to search through.

If you want good search functionality but without too many bells and whistles, give Windows Desktop Search 4.0 a shot.
